Story Lines: 1. Nat, Somchai 2. Nat, Num, Earn 3. Somchai, Mos, Momay

…Num looks at Mos, all-clueless and confuse. A long silence was broken when Mos finally breaks out laughing, waving his arms in the air while yelling to his best friend (Num), “ When did you get here? It’s been a long time now. Here…” Mos points at the sofa “ sit and tell me all your adventures you’ve been on as a police man.” Num sits and question his friend, “ What about you and your business? Momay tells me that you are leaving the country.” Mos’ delighted expression fades away. Mos looks at his friend and demands, “ don’t ask me. I ask you first. Tell me how was your training?” Mos’ face stares at Num and Num smiles, while joking to Mos . Num says, “ my friend why so stubborn? I’ll tell you, if you want to hear about the BLood, Guns, HUnting down killers, and…...” Mos hate the idea of murders and the sight of blood, and Num always knew what to say to annoy Mos. Mos stops Num by interfering his annoying speech, “ okay, Num. I understand. Please stop it or I’ll beat you up and see real blood for myself.” The both of them starts to laugh and hears another laugh, sweet and high-pinched voice. Num and Mos turn their heads and sees Momay, they had forgotten that she was still there. Momay stops and sees that the both of them were looking at her, she feels uncomfortable and kind of stupid. And she says, “What? Okay then I’ll leave.” She gets up and leaves the room. Num and Mos return to their conversation. Mos asks Num, “ I’m leaving the country in two weeks, and I need your assistance at the office while I’m gone. Can you do that for me?” Num, unsure of what Mos was asking, replies, “What can I do? Don’t you have someone to work for you? Like…your secretary..and I can’t do paper work.” Mos looks at his friend and says, “ I know. I do have a secretary but she’s new at the job. I want you to be the security guard while I’m gone. Can you do that?” Num takes a minute to think and answers Mos’ question, “ sure! I’ll be happy to help out. Now just one more question.” Mos looks Num and says, “What?” Num stands up and jokes, “ Is the new secretary cute?” They both giggle, then Mos announces, “ tomorrow, I’ll show you around and get you started.”

The sun, shining bright made the morning calm, Nat wakes up and gets ready for work. She walks out of her bedroom and through the tiny living room and sees Somchai still asleep on the sofa. She tiptoes over by his side and picks up the blanket that fell to the ground and places it on top of him. Afterward, she leaves for the bus stop.

The bus arrives around the corner of the street, and Nat steps out, while looking around making sure no one saw her getting off the bus. She takes out some keys and pretends that she has just gotten out of her car and enters the building. Nat walks through the halls and stands in the elevators in her black-shining heels to get to her office. Passing by the main desk, the lady stops her and inform Nat, “ Wait Nat. Mr. Mos wants me to tell you that he wants to meet you in his office, fist thing this morning…something about introducing you to a new employee.” Nat smiles and thanks her. Nat knocks on the door and enters Mos’ office. She stands in front of Mos, and notice a tall man facing his back to her, his eyes looks out the window at the view. Mos glance at Nat and says, “ I would like you to introduce you to our short-term security guard. He will be here while I’m gone.” Mos waits for Num to turn around and meet Nat but there was no action, Num didn’t move. So Mos shouts out, “ HELLO NUM!” Mos alerts Num and he circles around and faces Nat. She sees Num and realizes that she seen him before. It was that moment when her face numbs up, and recognizes Num. He was the policeman that arrested her and Somchai earlier that month (in the beginning of the story, Num had arrested Nat and Somchai) Num, also suspicious of her familiar face but couldn’t remember. Num gives a straight face and says, “ Who are you?” Nat remains still and stares at him, speechless. “ ummm…..”…….To be continued
