Chapter 2

18 years later...

The man's icy glare brought goose bumps popping all over her body. His eyes were as dark as mid-night
staring straight at her, daring her to look back at him. For the past five minutes, all Janie Tienphosuwan could do was helplessly look at her fingers as he looked at her. she couldn't explain the reason for the uneven beating of her heart neither the quickness of her breathing. She felt like bolting out of her seat then flying down the stairs, and driving out of the building. But for the sake of her shaking legs that would wobble and fall to the ground if she walked, let alone run. So she straigtened, appearing to be as graceful as a frog with her chin almost touching her chest. She knew he would dismiss her in about a few more seconds. Janie darted a quick glance at him, and wished she hadn't. He'd break her heart.
She have never met anyone so mysterious, so sexy. The way he act and present himself, it seemed like he
didn't miss anything in the world. His knowledge about the world was taken in a harsh, and deceiving
interpretation. She was so mesmerized by his eyes. Darren observed the young lady before him, wondering if the employment sheet was accurate when it read twenty-two years old, he looked down at the sheet again, and saw that it was correct. He knew his mind was not drifting, but the young lady before him looked
too young to be twenty-two. But he can't be sure anymore, that little round black head haven't looked
up yet, neither have he seen her eyes ever since that little peak she gave him. Why is everyone so afraid
of him? "It says that you're twenty-two," he started, going straight to the point.

Janie knew that she looked younger than her age, but why did he have to sound so stashing when he asked
that question. "That is correct, sir." She still didn't bother to look up. She knew she wouldn't get
the job the moment she stepped into his office, she was too nervous, and she felt like crying. Her life
and her family's life depended on her getting this job. It wouldn't be as important to get accepted when
she had ten choices, which she did before, but now this was her last resort. She didn't even want to
think about what would happen if she couldn't find a job. She flinched from that thought. Darren felt even more vicious when he saw her flinch. He didn't like it one bit that this gorgeous mass of head is afraid of him, heck she was terrified of him. He wanted to comfort her and tell her that she didn't need to be afraid of him, but he couldn't do that, not yet. He clenched his teeth, never leaving his eyes off of hers.

Janie had to get out of here, his intense gaze is making her weak. She stood up, and said, "I uh, well, I don't think I want to work here anymore, " that was a total lie, but she'd say anything to get out of there, now. "And um, I think I'll go now, sorry for-" Before she was able to finish, Darren bolted out of his executive chair. "If you want this job, I dismiss you, not the other way around." Janie felt like a little mouse surrounded by a cat. She didn't notice how tall he really was until he stood up. But damn him, didn't he hear what she said? She don't want to work here, she'd be a waitress if that was the last thing available. "I'm sorry for wasting your time sir, but once again, I really don't want to work here anymore, and I think this is enough of wasting your valuable time." With that said, Janie walked toward the door with as much dignity as a monkey.

Darren was still surprised she dismissed him, even though she was so afraid of him. He couldn't
give her the job, she was too young to be his secretary. He wants an organized, capable middle aged
lady who's not too afraid of him, and who wouldn't deliberate a plan to bed him. He did not want a
different relationship with his secretary other than boss and employee. This Miss Janie makes him want to
grab her, but he couldn't comprise with his desires, it would only make her take a flight and never want to
see him again. She even made it quite clear that she wasn't interested in being his secretary, he figured
it was because she was terrified of him. No, asking her to be his mistress is a great idea, but only for
him. He allowed her to walk through the door, for now. Let her think she's not going to see him again.
His desires know better.
