Chapter 1

The wind blew over the calm river, making small waves as the spring blossom on the peach trees fell gently on the morning grass.
Far beyond the river, stood a dark mountain with smooth edges and wild flowers at the bottom. In the far distance to the east, stood a white stone mansion with iron gates. Bushes of rose lines up next to the walls as the sunshine upon the building. The window glimmer as it brightens the room inside of it.

Awaken from the long night sleep, Carmen drag her soft translucent gown up to the window as she looked down. She held the gown next to her as she kept her eyes on the young man standing below her in the garden of roses. She still couldn’t imagine how she did it, but somehow she did. Carmen did feel guilty, she did feel that what she did was wrong, but what was she to do when her father’s men were after her.

Carmen had run away from her father, the King. She was on her way to the next ship that was heading to America, but being a princess, she didn’t know much of how to sneak in. One of the man of the ship had saw her and walked her off of the ship. Carmen trailed along the wooden deck about the leave the area when she spotted her father’s men searching for her. If they were to spot her, they were surely to take her back and she would to be wed to her father’s friend.

"This way gentlemen." Voy said as he led two of his men towards the deck of the American ship, "She is surely to come out of that ship and it’ll be easy to spot her." Voy and his men was to pick up a young lady from America, she was to be wed to his nephew.
He had ordered them to pick her up, the only information they had is that she’ll be in her golden brown dress and will be carrying only one package. They weren’t to miss her, after standing there, a young lady about the same age in the near golden brown dress, but more of a straight hair walked off of the ship with only one package as he had described to them. "Over there." Voy said as he waved his hand to his men.

Carmen looked around the place as her father’s men pushed themselves through the crowd, grabbing her package to her side tightly she turned to the other side of the deck as a young man in his early twenties approached her with two of his men. They were dress nicely from head to toe as if they were to pick up someone. Carmen looked at the first one as they stopped in front of her.

"Are you Miss Sawangjaeng?" Voy asked as Carmen looked behind her to make sure that her father’s men didn’t see her. "Excuse me…" Voy said after she didn’t answer him. "Are you or are you not Miss Sawangjaeng?" He asked again and this time Carmen thought that if they didn’t know who the person they were looking for looked like they wouldn’t know if she said that she was, she nodded her head and his men took her package as Carmen followed them into their carriage.

When the carriage pulled in front of a white mansion, the iron gate slowly opened and they soon entered a long road that leads into a garden of rose. Carmen was amazed by the look of the mansion; it was beautiful and huge. Although she’s from a castle, she had never seen a mansion this beautiful. The owner of this mansion must be wealthy and quite generous, because his men and dressed more like other wealthy men than his servant.

"You will meet your fianc? tomorrow morning." Voy said as the carriage stopped and the coachman opened the door to let them out.

"Who?" Carmen asked in shock.

"Your fianc?." Voy said as he got out of the carriage and lent Carmen his hand as she gets out of the carriage.

"Oh yes." Carmen gave a quick answer as she looked around the yard of the mansion, there were different color roses, from red to pink and white. She smiled to herself as she followed Voy inside the mansion. The servant came up to greet them as they entered through the door; each of them wore a white apron over their brown dress as some wore blue. The men wore brown and black with a white shirt under. Carmen smiled at each one of them as they walked by them, she remembered their own servants. They wore mostly rag and nothing this nice, but they were very pleasant to be around.

"June will take you to your bedchamber." Voy said as a girl around the age of 25 to 30 walked over to them, she took Carmen’s package with a gentle smile.

"Follow me Miss Sawangjaeng." She said as she headed up the warm peach painted walls. Carmen followed behind her as she looked at each of the pictures on the wall.

"We are happy to welcome you." June said as she headed up the stairs. Carmen turned her gaze back at her as June continued, "He’s been talking about you all the time and cannot wait till you arrive." Carmen nodded, starring at the back of June’s head.

"Where did he go?" Carmen asked as in her mind, she thought of an idea how to tell them the truth that she is not Miss Sawangjaeng.

"He went out of town for a while." June said as the chamber door came to view, "You’re room will be this one Miss." She opened the door as Carmen followed inside. The room was painted white on each side and there was a huge window that looked down into the garden and the river beyond that. The curtains were soft satin cloths that hang loosely on each side of the window. June place her package on the floor as she began to unpack it and putted it into the polish wooden drawers.

"We will call you down when dinner is ready." June said as she finished unpacking Carmen’s clothes. "You shall need some rest after being in the awful ship." Carmen forced a smile on as June walked out of the chamber and closed the door behind her. I’ll rest here for tonight or so and then I’ll tell them the truth, I’ll tell them that I just needed some where to go and so I lied to that I’m Miss Sawangjaeng and that I’m sorry. If I didn’t want to marry King George than why would I want to get marry to someone I don’t even now. I’ll leave them a note tomorrow and leave before they call me for breakfast. Carmen thought to herself as she sat at the edge
of the soft bed, she sighed as she wondered if they would be headed her for lying to someone wealthy. Carmen lied down for some rest as she closed her eyes and drifted off to sleep.

Carmen stared at the young handsome man down below as she clench the letter in her hand, she was to leave this morning and let the note on the bed for them to read. She sighed as she thought it over, what if his real fianc?e left back to America. No one will know if she already left and I can just be …Carmen thought about the first name but only know her last, … Miss Sawangjeang. I can just pretend I’m her, no one will ever notice. It seemed like they don’t even know how she looked like, and they all think that I’m her. Slowly she crumbled the letter into a ball and held it in her hand without letting her gaze lift from the young man she presume to be the fianc?.

Carmen swirled around at the sound of the knock against the wooden door.

"Miss Sawangjaeng?" said a soft voice from the other side, "Are you awaken yet?" Realizing that it must be June, Carmen quickly walked over to the door as she placed the crumble up note on the nightstand next to her bed.

The young maiden wasn’t the same from yesterday, she was lean and tall with her hair pulled back and a brown apron in front of her dark green dress.

"I’m Taya, I’ll be your private maid." She walked in and handed Carmen a lace satin ivory gown.

"What is this for?" Carmen asked.

"It’s for you, my lady." Taya answered with an innocent smile, "He had provided your clothes for you." Taya walked over to the window as she opened it. "He will be expecting to see you in twenty minutes for breakfast." Taya walked out as Carmen looked at the gown and got herself ready.

Twenty minutes later, Carmen was heading out the bedchamber into the peachy hall with painted pictures on each side of the walls and fresh flowers along it. Carmen gazed around the long hall as she kept her pace normal and came upon a staircase that led downstairs.

"I’m suggesting you’re Miss Kelly Sawangjaeng?" A young man said with a gentle smile on his face, Carmen saw the gleam in his brown eyes as he held out his arm. He was the young man outside of her window, so he must be the one that Miss Kelly Sawangjaeng was to be web to, Carmen thought. Carmen saw that his feature was still young and strong, his lips were thin but he had thick dark eyebrows. He must only be a couple years older than she was and already he was in charge of such amazing place.

"Yes." Carmen lied shyly, hoping that he was the guy that was to be wed with Miss Sawangjaeng. Carmen had always dream about her prince charming, how he would show up in a magical way and wed her off to his beautiful home.

"I’m guessing that you don’t know who I am, so let me introduce myself." He said with his smile still on his face. "I’m Joni Anwar." He nodded at her and Carmen smiled back as she placed her hands over his and they walked downstairs to the room that was fill with lovely yellow flowers and a crystal chandelier over head. Carmen looked around the room and saw beautiful Chinas in polished wooden cabinet and a table in the room with their freshly made breakfast. Joni lead Carmen into the chair on the opposite side as he pulled the chair for her. Joni smiled at her as he walked toward the door, but stopped at the sound of Carmen’s voice.

"Aren’t you going to…" Her voice trailed off as another young man entered the room, he was lean but about the same height as Joni.

"Good morning Joni." He said to Joni as Joni replied back.

"Good morning cousin." Joni kept his smile as he continued, "Enjoy your breakfast." Joni headed out as the other young man walked toward Carmen.
